I’m just not okay!

Hey boo,

So I had dedicated myself to posting every Sunday but I just couldn’t find the words, it just didn’t feel right and I’m so sorry for that. I’m just not okay.

I’ve recently reactivated my Twitter account and so because I’m still kinda new I don’t really go there often but earlier on last week I went on Twitter and I heard the news of the passing of Uyinene Mwretyana. That right there tore my heart, it scared me because I am a female, my daughter is a female. How are we not safe going to the post office? How are children not safe goong to daycare centres? I kept asking myself so many questions without receiving any answers. I mean I even got to a point where I asled myself if God even cares for the female species.

I would love to know, why are men so broken?why do they feel the need to harm and dispose of females? Are men not birthed by and raised by women? These are our brothers/uncles/father’s/sons destroying their sisters/aunts/daughters/mothers lives.

What hurts the most is that while these incidents continue to increase, we seem to be the only ones fighting this battle, while most men continue with their lives as though nothing gas happened as though this is not a national crisis. We live in a patriarchal society so if men are silent what must happen?

All the women in me are tired and scared for my life, my mother’s life, my daughters life.

What works for you won’t always work for me!

Hey boo,

So today I had a play date with my two friends and their baby girls and while we were chatting I actually realised a few things that we actually all experience and things we do differently.

Firstly, we all have a problem where people are “advising ” us on what we should or should not do when it comes to our children, which is appreciated but the problem comes when someone makes you feel like you don’t know what you are doing and that they know best and that is honestly the most irritating thing ever. I want you to give me advice because I want to learn but allow me the opportunity to raise my child the way I see fit. There is no manual on how to raise a child.

Secondly, babies do not need expensive clothes! I mean a vest from pep is just as good as a vest from woolworths it is just less costly because these children outgrow these clothes faster than you can imagine so buying nikey or adidas takkies is a waste of money, if you have the many to spend and waste then go right ahead, but it’s honestly a waste.

Lastly, buying processed food is not always the best option even though it is way easier. My friend made an example saying while we buy purity for r10, in town she gets potatoes and apples (each packet r5), boils and blends the food and baby is ready to eat and sorted for a whole week, which also boils down to wasting money. We also found that processed foods can also cause your child to be constipated so it’s not really healthy ( not all kids get constipated though, goes back to my title).

Last but not least, our labour stories are not the same guys people need to stop freaking other people out and acting like we all feel the same pain. Each to his own! Someone might tell you they had they worst labour pain ever and the other will tell you that it was a 5minute walk to the park. It’s so important remember that we are unique and have different experiences or views on certain things and so it’s important to remember whenever you try and throw your experiences in someone’s face and hiding through the “advising”.

Till we meet again next week. I love you, please do subscribe, comment, like and of course share
