6months baby update.

Hey boo,

So I am actually a whole four months behind because Qhayiya has turned 10months last week but, I plan on updating you on every step and milestone in her life.

So on the fifth of September my princess turned six months, “a whole six months?!” I thought to myself, it’s hard to believe that you have actually raised such a healthy and happy child with just one income from the dad that isn’t even fixed. I would look at her and think, “what on earth did we do to deserve such a wonderful child?” because raising a child is really not easy and even if you have all the support in the world, when you have to keep asking for money to buy things for your child, when you can’t afford to even buy a packet of nappies with your own money, that right there is hard and does alot to your emotional wellbeing as a mother. Luckily for me, my partner would not even complain when I would ask for things and my child understood the situation(you probably thinking, understood? How?) well I never not once found myself ever having to go to the doctor and paying those consultation fees for even a fever and that was something I was really grateful for.

Now,on the same week where my daughter turned six months I went for a job interview, nothing fancy but it would help me get by and I got the job and was told to start a week later. So now, I have a week to either look for a daycare or get a nanny and how in earth do I do that when I am such a paranoid mother? I’m thinking of all the negative things towards either option but I have to pick one either way. I go to the first day care and they tell me they only take children from a year upwards and so I move along to the next…..when I get there, there are so many children and the language of communication is seSotho not English and I just decide I’m not doing that to my daughter.

So the only other option I have now is a nanny so I have to make this work. Some of them tell me that they can’t start work so early in the morning, some tell me they won’t be able to take my daughter to the clinic, some tell me the salary I am offering is too little and now I just didn’t know what more to do and where to look, I am left with four days before I start work and nothing still. I ended up asking our gardener to refer someone for me and I got a nanny two days before I started working.

I don’t know whether it was my daughter or the nanny who was lucky because my is such a sweet and welcoming soul, they got along from day one. At six months:

Nanny✔️

Sits up straight with no support ✔️

Teething (no babies were out yet) ✔️

Crawling✔️

How old was your young one when you had to go to work?
