I’m just not okay!

Hey boo,

So I had dedicated myself to posting every Sunday but I just couldn’t find the words, it just didn’t feel right and I’m so sorry for that. I’m just not okay.

I’ve recently reactivated my Twitter account and so because I’m still kinda new I don’t really go there often but earlier on last week I went on Twitter and I heard the news of the passing of Uyinene Mwretyana. That right there tore my heart, it scared me because I am a female, my daughter is a female. How are we not safe going to the post office? How are children not safe goong to daycare centres? I kept asking myself so many questions without receiving any answers. I mean I even got to a point where I asled myself if God even cares for the female species.

I would love to know, why are men so broken?why do they feel the need to harm and dispose of females? Are men not birthed by and raised by women? These are our brothers/uncles/father’s/sons destroying their sisters/aunts/daughters/mothers lives.

What hurts the most is that while these incidents continue to increase, we seem to be the only ones fighting this battle, while most men continue with their lives as though nothing gas happened as though this is not a national crisis. We live in a patriarchal society so if men are silent what must happen?

All the women in me are tired and scared for my life, my mother’s life, my daughters life.

  1. It is sad that this post had to exist but very necessary too. South Africa is in mourning and we are past the point of being ignorant about this matter. Thank you for voicing your say boo.
