6weeks baby update + postpartum

Hey boo,

Can we just talk about breastfeeding? Can that be the first thing you and I talk about? It was literally the one thing that tortured me on my first few days of motherhood.

So, after giving birth I had to now feed my baby but the problem was now that I don’t have any milk and they don’t recommend bottle feeding. My word she would suck so hard and there was nothing coming out for the whole of the first day so I had to use formula milk because she just wasn’t sleeping and I when was expressing the milk, my nipples cracked. I mean what else could happen? Thank the heavens for the bepanthen nipple cream it does wonders.It took me quite a while to successfully breastfeed, probably two or three weeks and so that meant two or three weeks of no proper sleep, baby girl would wake up every 2hours then want to sleep the whole day.

Whilst having to deal with sleepless nights, a baby that is never full I also found myself having to deal with stitches. Now, see that tight there is pain because you can barely sit or move without feeling the pain and was for a full 10days. I learnt then that being a new mum, meant I too was being born again because I was so new and clueless to this mother thing so much so that I even forgot the check up date for my baby’s six weeks appointment, I know right, who does that?

My biggest lesson throughout my 6weeks of being a mother was that I am going to make mistakes along the way and that us perfectly normal u just need to allow myself to understand that it’s normal to make such mistakes because every day is a new lesson st a different level.
